About The Mother of God
The term Mother of God is a title traditionally given to Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, in Christian theology. This title reflects the belief that Jesus is both fully divine and fully human, and that Mary, as his mother, played a key role in the mystery of the Incarnation. The Greek word Theotokos, meaning God‑bearer, was affirmed at the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD as the orthodox understanding of this title.
